Sandblasted Glass Work & Art
Although she can work with a variety of mediums, her focus is on 'SANDBLASTING' glass and mirrors. She uses a pressure pot similar to that of air brush or one used for body shop work, with 5-125 psi to create truly amazing pieces of dimension and harmony. Talented at drawing, she captures the spirit of nature.
She then transposes that drawing into glass and mirror with varying degrees of sand and pressure and she does this very well. It is an intricate process of shading, shadowing and layers to create and define a piece. There is not a lot of room for mistakes when etching or carving glass. It is a precise medium. This adds to the marvel. What is more, is that she uses this technique to create beautiful and unique clocks, signs, residential and commercial cupboards and room dividers, french doors, candle holders, portraits, wall hangings and personalized mugs and glassware. She also customizes car and boat windows! This work is elegant and natural, the medium is precise, clean and something we often take for granted.
Marni is an Ontario artisan who has been working with sandblasting techniques for 15 years. She creates unique works of art on glass, stone, wood and metals. Marni's diverse works of art range from "pictures" which may be hung on a wall or in a window to murals on automotive and boat glass or plastics, to granite monument stones and sundials. All of her artwork is created using compressed air and sand: utilizing sandblasting machines for wall size murals to a sandblasting pen for subtle details. Her work can recreate the subtleties of nature and people from faint shadows to three dimensional reality, which is achieved by varying the depth of sandblasting over the picture. If you would like to commission a unique work of art for your home, cottage or business, then take a moment to 'JOURNEY INTO THE LOOKING GLASS' and contact Marni by email, phone or snail mail.
